1976 Porsche 911
The Porsche model 911 was manufactured over a period of 25 years beginning in 1964. Over the years the 911 was offered with a range of body styles including the fastback coupe, convertible, Targa convertible, Targa coupe and roadster. The name “Targa” (which means “shield” in Italian) came from the Targa Florio sports car road race in Sicily, Italy in which Porsche had notable success. The road going Targa was equipped with a removable roof panel and a removable plastic rear window (although a fixed glass version was offered alongside from 1968) and a stainless steel roll bar.
