1974 Lotus Europa
While the mid engine design was well established for Grand Prix cars by the mid 1960’s, almost no cars of its type were available for the open road. Lotus designed the Europa fill that void creating a car with a number of design innovations like a welded box frame, and fiberglass body. In 1971 Lotus offered a public version of the type 74 Europa with a Lotus-Ford twin cam engine.
